After resulting in cold weather conditions over most parts of Northwest and Central India, winter chill has abated from most parts of the country.

Both minimum and maximum temperatures have witnessed a rise in many areas. However, minimums are likely to see a drop in parts of Rajasthan and Haryana.

Now, the Western Disturbance is moving away in an eastward direction. Due to its eastward movement, the usual northerly flow of winds has been restored to the western parts of the country particularly in Rajasthan, Gujarat and northern parts of Haryana.

Temperatures have already shown a decreasing trend over West Rajasthan and Gujarat. This trend is likely to continue until the morning hours of February 9.

After that, the approach of a fresh Western Disturbance will alter the wind flow. Winds will then change their direction from being northerly to southwesterly. This change in wind pattern will result in the change in temperatures as well.

These moist southwesterly from the Arabian Sea will once again increase the minimums over the Northwestern parts of the country including Gujarat, Rajasthan, and parts of Haryana. Until then, minimums will witness a drop leading to somewhat cold nights over the region.
