In wake of cold northwesterly winds blowing over the region, most parts of East India are observing continuous fall in their day and night temperatures. Particularly, places such as East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha have reported a gradual drop in their temperatures.
Talking about the figures, Kanpur has recorded its minimums around 5℃, below normal by 4℃. Gaya in Bihar has recorded temperatures at 4.8℃, below normal by 5℃. Likewise, Ranchi in Jharkhand has reported temperatures at 7.5℃, below normal by 2℃, followed by Jamshedpur at 8.2℃, below normal by 3℃. On the other hand, Sriniketan in West Bengal has recorded its minimums around 8.7℃, below normal by 4℃ on Tuesday morning.
Further, this trend will continue for next three to four days. However, despite falling temperatures, cold wave condition will not appear immediately over the parts. It is only when temperatures start falling gradually one after the other, cold wave condition would appear with winter chill taking over the region.
Moreover, due to continuous dry and cold northwesterly winds blowing over the region, chances of dense to very dense fog have been completely ruled out.
