Minimums to rise in Maharashtra and Gujarat

Inside - Mumbai

Both Gujarat and Maharashtra have been under the influence of dry weather conditions from a long time now. Though after observing plummeting temperatures, mercury has started rising in last 24 hours once again.

A cyclonic circulation is seen over South Gujarat and adjoining areas in lower levels. A trough from this cyclonic circulation is also extending 3 km above mean sea level. Due to this weather system, the moisture-laden winds that had earlier resulted in the drop of the morning temperatures in Gujarat are once again paving way for the mercury to scale up.

Daytime highs are expected to remain near normal. However, coastal parts of Gujarat are likely to witness partly cloudy sky. Days are expected to remain breezy.

Similarly, an anti-cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over coastal Odisha, moist winds from the Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate over interior parts of Maharashtra. This would result in the morning temperatures to witness a rise. Day temperatures in Maharashtra are likely to remain slightly on the higher side for a few more days.

In fact, the diversity in morning temperatures can even be seen in the last 24 hours when the coastal city of Maharashtra, Mumbai, witnessed the lowest minimum in four years on February 7 settling at 14°C. However, early morning today, the city’s minimums settled at a good 17.5°C.

As per Skymet Weather, Mumbai is expected to witness pleasant weather conditions with mainly clear sky.
