Minimums in Rajasthan to rise from tomorrow

Dry and cold weather conditions have been prevailing over most parts of Rajasthan since the last many days. However, due to the induced weather systems, rains made occasional appearances over few parts of the state and at present, West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 16% and on the other hand East Rajasthan is rain deficient by 99%.

Talking about the temperatures, minimums over most parts of the state are settling between 4˚C and 10˚C. In fact, today also similar weather conditions will persist over the entire state of Rajasthan with no change in both day and night temperatures.

However, from tomorrow i.e. January 18, change in wind direction will be observed as winds will start blowing from southeast direction. This change will also lead to rise in minimum temperatures. Thus, due to night temperatures settling above normal, cold wave conditions will abate from most parts of Rajasthan.

Further, as an active Western Disturbance is approaching the hills of North India and it is also likely to induce a cyclonic circulation over the northern plains, light rains are expected to commence over parts of Rajasthan from January 20.

During this time, spread and intensity of rains will be more over the northern parts and we expect these on and off rains to continue till January 24 or 14 over most parts of Rajasthan. Mostly all the places in north, central and western Rajasthan will observe spell of rain and thundershower activity. However, the southern parts such as Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota and Pratapgarh districts will continue with dry weather conditions.
