Minimums in Gujarat to head towards single digit

Gujarat is a little far from the reach of the winter weather systems that affect the Northern Plains. However, it is interrupted by some short wintry conditions wherein temperatures dip to single digit at some places.

So far, only isolated pockets including Naliya has touched minimums in single digit. Other places have remained in double digits but are inching towards single digit minimums including the capital city Gandhinagar.

There is a large variation between temperatures in land as compare to temperatures along the coast. State of Gujarat in general has a long coastline which have minimums ranging between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Northern and Central Gujarat and some parts of Kutch see minimums lower. Earlier on December 25, Naliya had seen minimums at 4.2 degrees.

In the coming days, Gujarat may see single digit minimums including Naliya, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Amreli, Junagadh, Deesa, Patan, Palampur, Gandhinagar, Anand. This is due to the Western Disturbance which is over Western Himalayas will move away now.

Due to this, the anti cyclone has shifted far too south. However, after the passage of this system, the anti-cyclone will shift back to its normal position. Wind pattern will set in wherein dry and cold northwesterly winds from North India will sweep the entire state commencing December 31 onward. This will continue for at least 4-5 days
