The North Indian Plains have not seen any rains as such, only sprinkles here and there, otherwise dry weather has been seen. After the passage of this system, temperatures have dropped in the plains as well.
In fact, many places are seeing minimums around 5 degrees, and some even recording minimum less than 5 degrees. Amritsar has seen the season's lowest minimum at 3.6 degrees. Bathinda has recorded 4.4 degrees, Pathankot 5.5 degrees. In fact, foothills of plains at modest elevations of less than 3000 feet have gone sub-zero.
Since the Western Disturbance has moved away, temperatures may continue seeing a dip over the plains, including Rajasthan and adjoining areas. No rains are likely for now, some light sprinkle may be seen over Rajasthan and adjoining areas around December 22, and clouding may be there in some parts.
Thereafter, around December 24th -26th, Western Disturbance will arrive, which may result in rise in temperatures. Before that, shallow fog may be seen, chill in the air is likely and more single digit temperature.
Western parts of Uttar Pradesh have also come under the grip of intense cold wherein Bareilly saw 3.6 degrees as minimum one of the days.
