Minimum temperatures to rise over Gujarat, Maharashtra

February 12, 2017 3:07 PM | Skymet Weather Team

In the last 10 days of January and throughout the month of February till date, the temperatures over the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra have remained above normal. Pune, Mumbai, Surat and Ahmedabad are among many regions that are witnessing above normal day temperatures.

Such warm weather is due to the incursion of warm and moist winds up to Gujarat region from Bay of Bengal. Along with it the southwesterly winds from Arabian Sea are also entering the area. Because of these two warm winds prevailing over the region, the morning temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3°C.

The days are expected to be warm with sultry weather conditions prevailing over most areas in both the states. In some areas medium and high clouds are expected to form.

For the next couple of days, many areas of region will experience above normal temperatures. The morning and night weather will be cool but day time temperatures will be high. From February 6, 2017 the maximum temperatures of Mumbai has been 6°C more than the average temperature. Similar is the case with Nasik where maximum temperatures was more than 10°C than the average temperatures.

This amalgamation of warm and humid winds is likely to increase the minimum temperatures as well making way for summers to come soon.
