Minimum temperatures in Delhi varying due to fog

Delhi-NCR region has been witnessing different minimum temperatures across several locations. In west and central Delhi minimum temperatures have been settling two degrees below normal, while in NCR region the night temperatures are recording two degrees above normal.

The normal average temperature for Delhi around this period is 7°C.

On Sunday morning, Najafgarh recorded 4.9°C as minimum temperature,  Jaffarpur 5°C, Mungeshpur 4°C, Pusa 5.6°C, Safdarjung 6.4°C, While, Palam and Lodhi Road saw the minimum settle around normal at 6.7°C and 7°C, rrespectively.  In NCR region, Indirapuram witnessed 9.5°C as minimum, Noida 9.5°C, Faridabad 8°C and Hindon 8.5°C.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the reason behind the difference in minimum temperature is fog. The places where fog sets in early in the night does not see an increase in the minimum temperatures. While the places where fog sets in late witness drop in night temperatures.

Faridabad, Indirapuram and Noida had reported dense fog around 10 pm on Saturday night, which did not led the temperatures increase.

Meanwhile, fog cover came in very late,during the early hours of Sunday morning in areas like Palam and Najafgarh. Thus, there was steep decline in the night temperatures.

Days at present is witnessing bright and sunny days, as the maximum temperatures are settling between 19°C and 22°C.
