East India

The Western Disturbance is a common feature during winters which is responsible for the change in weather pattern.

With the passage of Western Disturbance, cool and dry northwesterlies are likely to strengthen over the northwest plains, and then will move gradually toward East and Central India. These winds will lead to drop in maximum as well as minimum temperatures by one to three degrees.

As per Skymet weather, the states are expected to witness dry weather conditions, however the morning temperatures will fall by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and then Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

The states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand have seen a marginal drop in minimums, wherein Bahraich recorded 10.2 °C, Gorakhpur 11.2 °C, Varanasi 13.7 °C, Gaya 12.2 °C and Patna 14 °C on November 16. In the coming days, these minimums will continue to drop by 2 to 3 degrees while the afternoon will remain warm.

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas around November 19. Meanwhile, the northwest plains, eastern and central states may also receive some rain or thundershower, leading to significant drop in temperatures in the region.
