The holy shrine of Vaishno Devi located in Jammu Kashmir has devotees flocking the region from all over the country almost the entire year. However, it is the winter season, which sees major footfall. At present, cold wave conditions are prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir wherein rain and snow are absent from the region for quite some time. Despite this, icy cold winds are blowing in most parts and biting cold conditions are persisting over Vaishno Devi.
Due to these winds, the temperature in Vaishno Devi Bhawan and surrounding areas are being recorded below the zero-degree mark. Even today, the minimum settled at minus 2 degrees Celsius, which happens to be 4 degrees below normal.
Similarly, day temperature was also recorded around 10 degree Celsius. According to Skymet's weather experts, there is no change expected from this weather condition for about one week from now.
For the next one week, Jammu Kashmir will not have an effective Western Disturbance, which will not cause any change in the weather as such. However, the skyd will continue to remain cloudy due to which the already accumulated snow will not melt, and hence weather will remain biting cold.
During the next one week, the minimum temperature in Katra will be 6 degrees and the maximum temperature will be around 20 degrees. During this time, minimum at the Bhawan will be on the subzero side while maximum will settle around 9-10 degrees.
The weather in Katra and Vaishno Devi Bhawan, located in Reasi district, will be affected by biting cold weather. Thus, if you are planning to visit Vaishno Devi in the next one week, while there will be no rain or snowfall but harsh and biting cold weather will not be less than any major challenge.
Moreover, it will not be severely cold until climbing from Katra base camp, but after reaching the Bhawan, icy cold weather will await the devotees. Therefore, it is better to be prepared than face harsh weather during winters.
