Southeast Tamil Nadu and Some parts of Kerala are the only pockets getting some rainfall over the last few days. North, West, Center and East India have mostly remained dry. The Northeast Monsoon is active only over South Coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbouring parts of interior Tamil Nadu and the southern belt of Kerala. Moderate rains have been witnessed largely covering Karaikal, Adirampattinam, Tondi, Pamban and Tuticorin. Only light rains have been observed over the rest of the parts. All the places over South Coastal Tamil Nadu have recorded 80mm to 100mm rainfall in the last three days.
The weather activity over the extreme southern peninsula was associated with small-scale cyclonic circulations moving across the Gulf of Mannar, Comorin and the Maldives area. The cyclonic circulation over Comorin with the extension of the trough will remain active today and shift far to the west, later. A similar pattern, as in the last few days will be witnessed today as well but on a lighter note. Things will go quiet over the entire southern region for the subsequent three days, between 21st and 23rd Nov.
Courtesy, the development of a major system over the southern parts of the Bay of Bengal, weather activity will pick up again starting 24th Nov and lasting till mid-week next.
The exact spread and intensity of the weather will be gauged a little later, due paucity of information at this stage. More authentic and reliable gen will be shared with precise timelines, for the region. Suffice to say, based on limited information, the region is likely to come up for stormy activities, intense and fierce over large areas, at least for a couple of days. The start of the next week remains more vulnerable, especially for Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu.
