Mild winter to commence in Madhya Pradesh

October 13, 2016 6:03 PM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last 24 hours, north westerly winds have blown over most parts of Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, Monsoon has also withdrawn from northern parts of the state, leading to dry weather conditions with clear sky.

Both day and night temperatures are plunging due to these dry winds. With clear sky, outgoing long wave radiation is high which is why minimum temperatures are dropping significantly.

For instance, Betul recorded 14 degrees Celsius while Chhindwara 15 degrees Celsius. Likewise, many districts in the state have recorded minimums ranging between 14 – 17 degrees Celsius.

As per Skymet Weather, Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing the lowest temperatures in Central India. This can be attributed to the topography of the region. These areas have rocky terrain. The rocks tend to cool down much faster, ensuing fall in temperatures.

Therefore, we can say that mild winters are approaching over many parts of Madhya Pradesh. The diagonal variation between the highs and lows are very high. The maximums are climbing up to 32-33 degrees Celsius while the minimums are plummeting between 14-16 degrees Celsius. There is almost a difference of 15-16 degrees between the day and night temperatures.

This wide variation in temperatures usher in many diseases, for example sore throat, cold and cough and many more. This is a transition phase from summer to winter where people should be cautious.
