It seems like the state of Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing a series of earthquakes for quite some time now. In fact, the month of January has seen some mild intensity earthquakes.

Moreover, it looks like the month of February is heading that way too. Today, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 had rattled the Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh. The depth of the earthquake was reported to be 5 km and the epicenter was Latitude 32.3 degrees North and Longitude 76.4 degrees East in the Chamba region, which happens to border Jammu and Kashmir region.

As per media agencies, no reports of damage to property or any injury has been reported. Chamba was also earlier hit by two mild earthquakes on January 12 and January 22. On the other hand, it was not just Chamba which was hit by a quake but also Mandi in Himachal Pradesh where an earthquake of Magnitude 3.8 on Richter scale hit at around 7:30 PM.

Jammu and Kashmir was also not spared as two earthquakes were felt here as well. One of them had occurred at around 7:00 PM of magnitude 4.4 on Richter scale at the Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan border region with a depth of 35 km. Another one was felt just sometime ago at 10:17 PM of magnitude 5.6 at the Northwestern Kashmir with a depth of 80 km.

Most areas in the state of Himachal Pradesh, which includes Chamba, lie in the high seismic zones due to which it is common to feel such mild quakes in these regions.

Three days ago also, an earthquake had hit Afghanistan-Pakistan border due to which tremors were also felt across Delhi NCR, Kashmir and Punjab.
