Parts of Odisha as well as West Bengal have been witnessing some rainfall activity since the last 24 hours. However, these rains have not had much effect on the temperature profile which continue to settle on the higher side only.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Bardhaman recorded 5 mm of rains, Chandbali 3 mm, Bankura 2 mm, Balasore 0.7 mm, and Shanti Niketan 0.1 mm.

Presently, a cyclonic circulation is over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas. Along with this, a trough has been extending from this system up to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Simultaneously, a ridge of the anti-cyclone is over north-central Bay of Bengal which is providing moisture over Coastal Odisha, West Bengal and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

On the other hand, due to clear sky conditions and northwesterly winds, temperatures are on the rise over the interior parts of Odisha. Due to mixing of the air mass, coastal parts of North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal may witness scattered light rain and thundershowers with strong winds towards the evening hours for short duration during the next two to three days.

Thus, cities of Balasore, Bhadrakh, Mayurbhanj, Digha along with East and West Midnapore may be the ones witnessing some rains. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to settle between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.
