Almost the entire state of Maharashtra has been under the grip of scorching summer heat. The mercury levels have been settling beyond normal by a couple of notches.

Meanwhile, the temperatures of Madhya Maharashtra are settling marginally above normal by 1-2 degrees with isolated pockets recording the maximums above normal by 3-4 degrees as well. On Monday also, the temperatures rose by a few notches and settled above the normal levels.

The maximum temperatures recorded by Ahmednagar on Monday was 41.1°C which is 4 degrees above the normal levels, Satara witnessed the daytime high rising 3 degrees beyond the normal at 38.1°C. However, the day temperatures of Kolhapur, Nashik, and Pune remained above normal by 2 degrees Celsius.

As per Skymet Weather, the temperatures over the region are now expected to witness a marginal drop. This reduction would be due to some thunderstorm activities that are likely over the southern half of the region. However, parts of North Madhya Maharashtra would continue to remain dry.

Despite a fall, the temperatures of most parts of the region would remain above normal by 2-3 degrees.

Let us see the impact of this weather condition on the agriculture belt of Madhya Maharashtra:

Due to rising mercury levels in the last couple of days, high water demand in crops and fruits is expected. Farmers are advised to irrigate crops in morning hours and apply mulching to control evaporation.

Due to dry weather in the coming days, farmers are advised to resume harvesting of vegetable as well as fruit crops. Fruits like orange, grapes, and mango may face pest attack and hence farmers should take proper measures. Also, farmers should irrigate summer crops as per the need.
