Normally this time of the year is not favorable for the development of any weather system over Gujarat or adjoining regions, paving way for hot and dry weather.

Similar has been the case over the state for many days. In fact, due to the absence of weather activity, few districts are experiencing heatwave conditions.
As on April 24, day temperature in Kandla district settled at 39.8°C which is 5°C above normal. Similarly, day maximum in Porbandar settled at 39.3°C that is 5°C above normal.
Meanwhile, day temperature in Ahmedabad, Amreli, Baroda, Deesa, Idar, and Rajkot are crossing 40°C mark, leading to heatwave like conditions. Heatwave conditions are declared when day maximum is or above 40°C and mercury is above average by at least five to six degrees.
However, with the continuous clear sky conditions, scorching sun heat and hot winds which are travelling from Sindh and Baluchistan, more districts are likely to come under the ambit of heatwave.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, there is no relief in forecast from the prevailing hot weather. Sky will continue to remain clear. The scorching sun will continue to heat up the and hot winds will continue to blow over the state during the next few days.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures are near normal or marginally below normal. Therefore the weather during the night will be comfortable, which will be a slight relief for the residents.
