Most parts of Central India are reeling under excessive hot weather conditions since last many days. In most districts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, temperatures have been settling in the range of 36°C to 39°C.

However last week, moderate to heavy rains with hailstorm activity had occurred in most districts of Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra. Regions like Latur, Osmanabad, Nanded, Sholapur and Akola witnessed rains along with hailstorm.

These showers brought a brief respite from the ongoing dry and warm weather but not much changes were observed in the ongoing rising temperatures.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon activity usually occur during the late afternoon or evening hours and by then, mercury has already peaked. Thus, these activities on bring momentary relief.

Moreover, dry and warm northwesterly winds are prevailing in most parts of the region. All thanks to the anti-cyclonic circulation persisting over East Rajasthan. These warm winds are also reaching up to parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra and the adjoining areas of Telangana.

All these factors led to upscaling of temperatures across the parts of Central India. In fact, during the last 24 hours, areas of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have seen the maximums settling close to 40°C also.

Let’s take a look at the maximum temperatures recorded parts of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

Moreover, due to the absence of any significant weather system in the near future, Skymet Weather does not foresee any change in the ongoing warm weather. A lower level trough is likely to form in parts of these states though it may not be able to subside the temperatures in the widespread area.

Hot days and dry weather are expected to continue prevailing for the next couple of days over Vidarbha and Marathwada region of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat.
