As we enter into thick of summers, heat pocket is now expanding its reach and has recently gripped East India. Maximum temperatures that have been settling in mid 30s are now reaching around 40°C and even above.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, absence of any weather activity over the region has led to change in wind pattern from south-easterlies to dry and hot northwesterlies, resulting in steep rise in day temperatures.

Cyclonic circulation, which has been giving rain over East India till last week, has now become less marked. At present, no weather system is affecting the eastern region.

As per the latest forecast by Skymet, there will be no respite from the scorching weather during the next couple of days, as no activity is expected over the region making it very uncomfortable for the people.

Let us have a look at the maximum temperatures on Saturday across Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and parts of Bihar.

Gujarat, west Rajasthan and Maharashtra are already reeling under the heat wave conditions and are the hottest regions in India at present. With maximums crossing 40°C in most parts of these states, afternoon hours have become scorching and extremely uncomfortable.
