Warm mornings and hotter afternoons are making lives uncomfortable for the people of western state of Gujarat. Day temperatures have been on a rise ever since the Southwest Monsoon vacated Gujarat in mid-September.
Maximum temperatures have been settling in higher thirties for the last few days and are well above the normal average temperatures.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the rise in maximum temperature is considered to be normal during October. This period is also considered to be the second Summer season. Dry and hot northwesterlies keep the sky clear, even in terms of cloud cover.
Temperatures at several places settle in early 40s as well. However, this year mercury has not soared to that extent till now due to a cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea. The weather system is influencing the wind pattern over the state, restricting maximum temperatures below 40°C. But as the system diffuses, temperatures will increase further.
Skymet predicts, there will no respite in coming days and people of Gujarat will have to bear the brunt of the excessive heat. Temperature will continue to settle in higher 30s and can even go higher at some places.
Some light showers may occur over coastal parts of Gujarat but after a span of 5-6 days as the cyclonic circulation is expected across the West Coast.
