National capital is witnessing rise of mercury level for the last 3 days. Base observatory at Safdarjung recorded maximum of 25.9 degree yesterday, rise of 2.7 degree from the previous day. The temperatures are likely to increase further over the next 3-4 days to touch 30 degree mark.
The record observatory of Delhi, Safdarjung had earlier shied away from touching 30 degree and fell short by a whisker. It recorded maximum of 29.7 degree on 10th Feb and drop thereafter. The day temperature is likely to shoot about 5 degree above the normal, by end of this week.
A weak western disturbance is moving across the hilly states of North India. This will be closely followed by another system on 18th Feb, which lasts till 21st Feb. This will be an active weather system for the mountains. Under its influence, an induced cyclonic circulation will form over Punjab and Rajasthan, in the close proximity of Delhi. This will alter the wind pattern, both direction and speed and arrest the flow of cold north-westerly blowing down the mountain slopes.
Few clouds are expected to appear between 18th and 21st Feb. Surface winds will slow down and also reverse direction. Rise in humidity level is quite likely. Days are likely to become warm and filtering even the morning chill. No rainfall is likely for Delhi/NCR during this month.
