Good Showers In Delhi Next Two Days: Dry Weekend Likely
Key Takeaways:
- Widespread rain brought uniform showers across Delhi/NCR with ~6 mm recorded at key stations
- Minimum temperature plunged to 18.8°C, lowest since mid-April
- Rain activity to continue in phases till 6–7 May, mainly evenings and nights
- Day temperatures to remain below 35°C before rising again toward 40°C by 10 May
Delhi/NCR received fairly widespread rain and thundershowers across the region. The rainfall was evenly spread out. Base station Safdarjung, airport observatory Palam, and Lodi Road office each recorded about 6 mm rainfall starting midnight and lasting till early morning. Rains have stopped since sunrise hours and the clouds have shattered too. However, it is not all over yet, and the rains will return again in the later part of the day.
Sudden bursts of moderate thundershowers have plunged the temperatures by massive margins. The day temperature dropped by 2°C yesterday to settle at 36.6°C, and the minimum temperature has nosedived to 18.8°C, a huge 6°C below normal. This is the lowest minimum temperature since 13th April 2026. With some more rains over the next couple of days, it may dip further by about 1°–2°C. The day temperature will also dip today and may get arrested under 34°C
A Western Disturbance is moving across the northern mountains. A well-marked cyclonic circulation is lying over West and Central Rajasthan. This feature will shift to Northeast Rajasthan tomorrow and get diluted into a trough a day later. An east-west trough is extending from this circulation in close proximity to Delhi. Under the combined influence of the Western Disturbance, cyclonic circulation, and trough, fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are likely over Delhi/NCR today and tomorrow. The rains, which have ceased temporarily, are likely to resume during evening hours and continue through the night and early morning tomorrow. There could be a small break again tomorrow morning, but only to return sometime in the afternoon and evening hours. The rain and thundershowers may part ways on 06th May during the day. Still, showers will likely continue on 06th and 07th May during night hours.
With persistent rains and cloudy weather, the day temperature will remain suppressed today and tomorrow. The maximum will stay under 35°C on both days. An incremental rise in temperature is likely during mid-week. The mercury will touch 40°C not earlier than Sunday, 10th May 2026.
