Rain in Odisha

Odisha is one state that comes very early in news on account of high temperatures, however this time it didn’t happen so. The interiors of Odisha like Titlagarh, Keonjhargarh along with capital city Bhubaneswar are the hot belts. By February end, the temperatures start shooting up. This time in March as well no heat wave condition in Odisha has been reported. As of now, the pre-Monsoon activity is playing hide and seek. The first two weeks of March were rather silent and saw a deficiency of 53%. While, the pre-Monsoon activities picked up pace by the third week of March and was then excess by 36%.However, by end of March, the excess got consumed and today the deficiency stands at two percent.

While, the last couple of days shows rise in mercury in Odisha. Bhubaneswar in Odisha is the hottest city in India with a maximum temperature of 43.7°C, recorded on April 16. This is also the highest for the season with seven degrees above normal. Titlagarh and Cuttack are also not left behind and have clocked forty degrees and above. Titlagarh and Cuttack recorded 42°C and 41.1°C, respectively. Cuttack, Anugul and Bhubaneswar are reeling under severe heat wave conditions.

As per the weathermen, it is expected that the high temperatures might get subsided. The moist winds getting pushed from Bay of Bengal will take out the punch of the heat and temperatures might settle in mid 30s touching the normal mark. On account of humidity and high temperatures during later part of the day, one can get to see scattered activities which would be moderate in nature. These activities would be seen today and tomorrow. It might also help in abating heat wave conditions. Mayurbhanj, Anugul, Koraput and Ganjam might get to witness rain and thundershowers at some places.

Come May, the pre-Monsoon activities would turn intense in nature and many times violent thunderstorm activities will be a sight as well.
