Before January 23 and thereafter, the weather remained dry over entire northwestern plains of the country. It was just on this day that some winter rains made an appearance. Moreover, these showers remained confined to few pockets of the state, plus were light in nature.

As of now, we expect the seasonal wind pattern to prevail over Rajasthan, which could be attributed to an anti-cyclonic circulation over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining region.

Besides this, the north-westerlies have also been gaining strength over North Rajasthan; hence the thickness of fog layer will also weaken during the next 24 hours. However, moderate to dense fog will continue to occur in pockets of North Rajasthan during the next 24 hours as well. Thereafter, the fog layer will thin down but shallow to moderate fog will persist in pockets.

Yesterday, the lowest maximum across the state was recorded in Sri Ganganagar at 13°C. The maximum in other parts of Rajasthan were as follows: Pilani 18°C, Sikar 24°C, Churu 25°C, Jaipur 25.4°C, Bhilwara 27°C and Jaisalmer 28°C.

Day temperatures are likely to increase marginally, while night temperatures will settle near the normal levels. Due to strong winds, the chill factor could be felt during the early morning hours despite no escalation in the minimums.

Several parts of Rajasthan would witness a sunny day with few clouds and a chilly night.
