Fairly widespread rain with one or two intense spells of rain, as well as, lightning strikes along with hailstorm activities has occurred in Coastal Odisha.
For instance, Balapur recorded 36 mm of rain, Chadwali 21 mm of rain, Paradip 21 mm of rain, Jadugora recorded 20 mm of rain. Sambalpur also observed rain of 12 mm, while Bhopalpur observed 8 mm of rain.
Kalingapatnam also witnessed rain of 10 mm. Meanwhile, light scattered rain continued in Kolkata, Sagar Island, Digha, Diamond Harbour, and Contai in Gangetic West Bengal. While light rain was observed in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Daltonganj in Jharkhand.
The weather of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar remained almost dry.
At present, an anticyclone is over the Bay of Bengal due to which the moisture feed is intact over the eastern parts of the country. Moreover, northwesterly dry winds are merging with these humid winds further leading to the formation of a confluence zone.
Therefore, today we expect light to moderate rain with one or two moderate spells to continue in Odisha. And, the intensity of the rains will start increasing over West Bengal, and in Jharkhand. Rain is also expected in many parts of South Bihar, and Southeast Uttar Pradesh by the late evening hours of today or tomorrow.
These weather activities are expected to continue until March 21 in East Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Light to moderate rains are expected to continue in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and isolated pockets of Jharkhand until March 22. The maximums are expected to remain below normal over these places by three to four degrees celsius. And,
Thereafter, the weather activities will start clearing up. The day temperatures will start rising gradually post-March 22.
