Maximums in the entire country remain below 40 degrees for 4th consecutive day

The fag end of April, as well as the beginning of May, usually observe very hot weather conditions in many parts of the country. In fact, there are many areas where the normal maximum during this time is more than 35 degrees. In parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan as well as parts of South India, maximum temperatures are usually around 40 degrees or more.

However, this year has been unique and very rare wherein the entire country has seen the maximum temperatures below the 40-degree mark for the fourth consecutive day.

The below 40-degree maximum started on April 29th, wherein the highest maximum was recorded in Erode at 39.4 degrees Celsius, Bhubaneswar at 39.6 degrees on April 30, Erode at 39.4 degrees Celsius again on May 1, and Bhubaneswar at 37 degrees Celsius yesterday.

The reason for such temperatures can be attributed to the continuous Pre Monsoon activities being observed over almost the entire country with varied intensity which have kept the mercury well below the normal levels. In fact, we do not expect the maximum to go very high for the next couple of days at least.

This situation is a very rare occurrence when the maximum temperature is below 40 degrees, especially during the time when usually most parts begin to sear.
