On Saturday, Delhi recorded maximum temperature at 20.8°C that was two degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature on Sunday morning was 14.2°C. Light rain, that was also first of the season, was observed over several parts of the city.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the reason behind the change in weather is the feeble Western Disturbance moving across Jammu and Kashmir and a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining areas that brought scattered light rain in Delhi, parts of Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
Chill affect was also observed, as the difference between day and night temperatures reduced significantly. Moreover, first snowfall of the season in Shimla and some other parts of Himachal Pradesh further added to the chill in the winds.
According to Skymet, Sunday is expected to get more colder as the day temperature is likely to fall further with scattered light rain. We are expecting a clear weather by Monday, post which thick fog might engulf the city by December 16.
Minimums will drop once again as the Western Disturbance moves away, while maximums will maintain levels or rise marginally.
