Updated on May 23, 6.34 pm (IST) - Maximums have been rising in Delhi and NCR. On Saturday, the Safdarjung observatory recorded 44.5°C as maximum. In Palam maximum touched a new high of 46.2°C. No relief is likely from sweltering heat on Sunday as well.

Temperatures have been rising in Delhi and NCR for the last couple of days. On Friday, the Safdarjung observatory recorded 43.6°C as maximum.
In Palam too, the day temperature touched 45.2°C, making Friday the hottest day of the season. Minimum temperatures in the region are also quite high, around 27°C. However, night temperatures are near normal.
There seems to be no respite from blistering heat on Saturday as well. According to Skymet, we could expect some dust storm but, only during evening. Therefore, the day temperature will continue to maintain levels and not witness any significant change. The cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining areas can contribute to dust storm activity in the plains of North India.
Frequent power cuts across the national capital has aggravated the situation and made life miserable for Delhiites.
On Thursday as well, the national capital city, Delhi, witnessed heatwave-like conditions as the day temperature settled at 42.6°C, which is 3 degrees above the monthly normal. In the adjoining state of Haryana, Hisar also sizzled at 44.5°C. Most parts of Punjab are also witnessing heatwave.
