Marginal relief from rising temperatures and hot weather as Punjab and Haryana gear up for rains

At present, a Western Disturbance can be marked over Jammu and Kashmir which is now moving away eastwards. Apart from this, two Cyclonic Circulations can be marked over the Indian mainland- one, over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan and the other over West Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan. Also, a trough is running between these two Cyclonic Circulations.

Due to these systems, there has been some scattered light to moderate rains in later part of the day over a few areas of Punjab and Haryana. Apart from this the day temperatures soared to their maximums and crossed 40°C mark as the rains mainly affected in the later part of the day.

Yesterday, it was the hottest day for Delhi in the season as well as broke all time record with the temperature touching as high as 45.3°C.

We expect the same activity to continue today evening and tomorrow as well. While the northern districts of Punjab and Haryana such as Chandigarh, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Ambala, Karnal, Jalandhar and Yamunanagar might experience some light rains, Delhi and Rajasthan however will remain dry with a cloudy sky towards the evening hours.

These rains will be unable to bring about any major relief from the heat wave conditions. A marginal decrease of one or two degrees cannot be ignored, however.
