High clouds prevailing from the last 48 hours over Punjab and Haryana, are now likely to move away thereby leading to a marginal drop in minimums. However, West Uttar Pradesh will continue to observe scattered high clouds.

During the last 24 hours, dry weather prevailed over Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.

However, as the winds present in the lower level, have now become light and easterlies, the minimum temperatures have also shown a significant increase over many parts of Punjab and Haryana whereas, in West Uttar Pradesh, a rise in temperatures has been observed by 1℃-2℃.

Moreover, the mixing of warm -moist winds with dry winds over the area has resulted into widespread smog/thick mist over most places.

Visibility has also dropped down to less than 1 km over many parts during early morning hours. Moreover, increasing pollution level over the city areas is making the situation even more deadly.

At present, an induced Cyclonic Circulation is present over Central Pakistan and it adjoining areas. A Western Disturbance as an upper air system can be seen over Afghanistan and adjoining North Pakistan. A Subtropical Jet Stream is moving across 62°latitude.

In the coming days, wind pattern will change marginally and we expect light northerly/ northeasterly winds to blow over Punjab and Haryana whereas, very light winds over West Uttar Pradesh from easterly / northeasterly directions.

Moreover,a marginal improvement is expected in pollution level over Punjab and Haryana. Thickness of smog- layer may also improve over these areas, thereby providing a slight relief to the residents.

Talking about temperatures, minimums are likely to drop by 1℃-2℃ over the regions. However, maximums will remain same.
