While a Western Disturbance did approach the Western Himalayas around March 24, rains did not make an appearance over Northwest India.
The system is presently over East Jammu and Kashmir as an upper air trough and is likely to move away in a northeast direction.
The induced cyclonic circulation which was over Northeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas has moved eastwards.
During the last three weekends, Delhi-NCR and other parts of the Northern Plains did receive some good showers. These rains kept both the maximums and the minimums under check. Conditions remained comfortable.
However, mercury began to soar after the last spell of rain. Temperatures at some places even crossed the 25-degree mark. Now, the next Western Disturbance is approaching the hills of North India on March 31.
Thus, conditions will remain the same for the next few days. March is likely to end on a hot and dry note for most parts of the Northwestern Plains.
Temperatures will continue to observe a rising trend with no relief likely in the coming days. However, the next system may give some rain over the plains of North India.
