Delhi is all set to welcome extended winter showers, right at the start of the month. The capital city will witness rain and thundershowers on 01st, 02nd & 03rd March. The intensity and spread of rains will be higher on 02nd March. Twist in the weather conditions will vary the mercury levels, one more time before marching towards the spring season. The wet spell will bring the whiff of winter flavor, yet again, on the weekend and spill over to the next week.
Much anticipated western disturbance has started weather activity over Jammu & Kashmir. Srinagar, Qazi Gund, Banihal, Patnitop, and Jammu have been raining since early morning. Clouds have surrounded the state of Himachal Pradesh, as well. Shimla started the morning on a rainy note. The sheet of clouds has spread over the foothills of Punjab and Haryana. The next stop is Delhi, approaching very soon. The capital city can enjoy mild sunshine till the afternoon before it starts clamping in the evening and night.
Rain and thundershower activity will last for about 3 days. It picks up late today and rains in the night. Delhiites will wake up tomorrow, amidst cloudy sky and light showers. Short breaks are quite likely during forenoon hours. The showers will become more frequent tomorrow, later in the day, and continue in the night. Strokes of lightning, peals of thunder, and a blast of winds accompanied by rain and thundershowers will be the highlights of weather in the evening and night. A brief spell of hail in some areas remains a possibility.
Rains will remain in close proximity to Delhi, on 03rd March as well. It may not rain all over the city and suburbs, but conditions still favor, a few fleeting showers in some areas. Mercury shot up to nearly 28°C yesterday and will plunge to low 20’s during the next 3 days. The lowest temperatures, already in double digits, may further rise to low teens over the weekend. Sharp drop to a possible single digit, yet again, is likely on 04th & 05th Mar. Broad clearance is expected later in the day on 04th March and subsequent days of the week.
