Marathawada bracing up for good Monsoon showers

Rain-Marathwada The weather system over Bay of Bengal has shifted inland. Fairly widespread heavy Monsoon rains will lash most parts of Maharashtra including Marathwada.

Coastal areas of the state will record heavy rains while the interiors of the state are likely to receive moderate showers.

According to Skymet Weather, the upper air cyclonic circulation over west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh has moved inland. This weather system is being held responsible for the upcoming rain in Marathwada.

For the last two year Marathwada has been witnessing drought-like situation. However, this year Marathwada and most parts of Maharashtra have received good showers.

The geographical situation of Marathwada is such that both the weather systems from Bay of Bengal as well as the Arabian Sea affects weather in the Central parts of the country including Marathwada.

Places like Parbhani, Latur, Nanded and Jalna could receive good showers for the next few days.

As of now, Marathwada has received 9% more rainfall than normal. The subdivision has received 676.2 mm against the normal of 622.9 mm of rainfall.
