The state of Rajasthan has been witnessing minimums in single digit for quite some time now. The drop has been attributed to the absence of any Western disturbance over the western Himalayas. Due to this, skies have remained clear wind pattern has not changed and cold winds from the snowclad mountains continue to blow over Rajasthan.
Today, many parts of Rajasthan recorded minimums being as the lowest of season including Sikar 5 degrees, Pilani 7.4, Bikaner 8.6, Alwar 6.8 degrees and Churu at 4.2 degrees Celsius. These minimums are amounting to some feeble cold wave conditions in some parts. As it is when minimum drops below 5 degrees, one assumes cold wave conditions to be certain.
In view of Western Disturbance approaching the Western Himalayas around December 7, further drop may not be there. Any drop or rise in the minimum will only be marginal.
