Weather conditions have been wreaking havoc over the residents of both the plains and the hills of North India for the past few days. Winter chill had reached its peak and several areas were witnessing below normal minimums. So much so that Lucknow even recorded its minimum at zero degree Celsius.
Minimums have been below the normal levels in the hills of North India. Yesterday, Manali recorded its minimum at -7 degree Celsius, which happens to be six degrees below the normal levels. Shimla also settled at -1.4 degrees.
Similar conditions were observed in Srinagar as well where the minimum dropped to -6.4 degrees, four degree below the normal levels. Nainital was also observing below normal minimums at -2.5 degrees.
At present, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to start affecting the hills of North India. Thus, several places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand are expected to receive rainfall.
So much so that many hill stations including Manali and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir along with Nainital in Uttarakhand are expected to get a snowy surprise. In fact, these areas are likely to witness a good spell of snow today evening onward.
Tourists who have planned to visit these hill station on the Lohri weekend are expected to be surprised and a white weekend is on the cards for them.
