Many places in the duo states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh saw intermittent spells of light to moderate rains during the last 24 hours. Spells of heavy rains were also recorded at a few isolated places.
These weather conditions are likely to continue as a Low-Pressure Area lies over southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions. Its associated Cyclonic Circulation is extending up to 7.65 kms and tilting Southwestwards as height extends.
Since, this system would be moving west-northwestwards slowly, hence light to moderate rains are likely to continue at many places over Odisha and Chhattisgarh during the next two to three days. The southern parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh are likely to receive heavy spells of rains and thundershowers during the same period.
Places like Malkangiri, Koraput, Narayanpur, Jagdalpur etc are likely to receive heavy rainfall while places like Ambikapur, Durg, Raipur, Pendra road, Phulbani, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Angul, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh and Bilaspur will experience moderate rains and thundershowers.
These rains are likely to turn out useful for paddy and coconut crops. However, due to frequent spells of rain and thundershowers, the water level is likely to increase in the rivers. Thus, low lying areas might be affected due to flood-like conditions in the coming days.
