A cyclonic circulation is currently marked over Lakshadweep and adjoining areas. The system is currently in the medium levels and has been persisting for the last 48 hours. However, weather models suggest that the system will soon be seen in the lower levels.
The weather system is expected to become more marked in the Arabian Sea around June 2 or so. The weather system is expected to move parallel but off the West Coast from south to north taking the rain belt along with it.
Due to this system in the Arabian Sea, rains will increase over Kerala and the Karnataka region between June 2 and 4. While both these states have already been receiving rains, the system is expected to enhance the rainfall activity.
Thereafter, the rain belt will cover more areas further giving rains over CoastalMaharashtraas well. In fact, between June 5 and 8, both Maharashtra andKarnatakawill receive good rains during this period. The capital citiesMumbaiandBangalorewill also receive good showers in the same time span.
After lashing the entire West Coast, the rain belt will further cover areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra as well. Thus, parts of both Gujarat andRajasthanare also expected to receive some rains due to this system between June 9 and 13.
The weather system is expected to result in a prolonged rainy spell over several states along the West Coast. These rains will also result in a marginal drop of temperatures over the above mentioned areas as well.
