Mahashivratri to begin on a rainy note for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

February 21, 2020 11:41 AM |

Rain in madhya pradesh

Dry weather is being witnessed over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for the last many days. However, rains are about to make an appearance over the region anytime now. Entire North India is celebrating Mahashivratri today. It seems like the festival will bring along some showers with it. Already Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh witnessed 1.5 mm rains in the last 24 hours.

The reason for these rains will be an East-west Trough which is extending from Northern Plains to Jharkhand across Northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. Moreover, southeasterly humid winds from Bay of Bengal are also increasing moisture over the region.

Under the influence of both these systems, we expect scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells to occur over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and Northeast Chhattisgarh today.

These on and off rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over the region until February 24.

Places like Sidhi, Satna, Panna, Umaria and Shadol in East Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness these rains. At the same time, West and Central Madhya Pradesh will remain dry. At the same time, good rains are being forecast for North Chhattisgarh. Places like Koriya, Korba, Sarguja, Ambikapur and Raipur will receive rains today. At the same time, South Chhattisgarh is likely to remain dry.

Weather will start clearing up over both the states by February 25.
