Most parts of Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra are reeling under severe heatwave condition, with maximum temperatures touching 47°C in districts like Chandrapur and Brahmapuri. We do not expect any relief from the sweltering heat at least for the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra may observe light pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers May 28 onwards.

According to Skymet Weather, a trough is likely to run across Marathwada and adjoining areas. Due to this, we expect isolated thunderstorm and thundershower activities over these regions after the next 36-48 hours.

Thereafter, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase over Vidarbha, Marathwada and southern parts of Madhya Maharashtra. We are likely to expect few spells of rain around May 29 over coastal districts like Konkan and Goa. Moreover, weathermen are of view that these showers will continue till the onset of the Southwest Monsoon 2017.

With this, severe heatwave conditions will take a back seat from the entire city of Maharashtra and pre-Monsoon activities will take over.

According to Skymet Weather, these pre-monsoon activities will gradually rise and affect the capital city of Maharashtra, Mumbai by May 30-31. Mumbai has been battling hot and humid weather for the last several days. In fact, the city has remained practically dry during entire May.
