Scorching summer heat is on an upward trend over the state of Maharashtra. Almost the entire state is reeling under the intensely hot weather with mercury levels soaring to 41ºC in some parts. Moreover, the Konkan & Goa division is bearing the brunt at the highest, as the temperatures there are above normal by 3-4 degrees.
Being the coastal belt, the feel like is more and so are the discomfort levels across the entire stretch. In fact, on Sunday, the daytime high of Mumbai rose 8 degrees above the normal levels settling at 41°C, which is the hottest since 2011.
The extent of hot weather conditions is such that the other regions of Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha are also not lagging in registering or crossing the 40-degree mark temperatures.

Meanwhile, the regions of North Marathwada, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra may register a further rise in the mercury levels.
At this juncture, let us look at the impact of this hot weather condition on the agriculture of Maharashtra:
Due to increased temperatures and heat wave conditions, there are chances of fruit drop in Mosambi, Mango and Orange. Farmers are suggested to be ready with contingency planning for the same.
Farmers are also advised to irrigate the summer crops of Groundnut, Maize and fruit bearing orchards of Mango, Orange, Mosambi and Pomegranate as per requirement. Farmers should continue harvesting of Grapes and Orange.
