Maharashtra rains in full swing, light showers ahead

Southwest Monsoon is in full swing to lash parts of Maharashtra in next couple of days. During last two to three days, most regions of the state have received fairly widespread moderate rains with heavy at a few places.

During last 24 hours, Vidarbha, Marathwada and northern parts of Madhya Maharashtra have witnessed fairly widespread moderate showers.

Let's’ have a look at the rainfall received in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday:

Further, good rains are expected to continue over many parts of Marathwada. Moreover, one or two places are likely to receive heavy spells as well. Vidarbha is also expected to receive moderate rains at many places.

However, rainfall is expected to be lesser over South Madhya Maharashtra region. Places like Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur and Coastal Maharashtra is foreseen to continue with light to moderate rain activities.

In other words, it can be said that fairly widespread rains are likely over various parts of Maharashtra in varied intensity for another 24- 48 hrs.

During entire Southwest Monsoon, most parts of Maharashtra have witnessed decent showers, however, weather of Marathwada remained mainly dry from last many days leading to water scarcity but now, this revival of Monsoon activity over the area will boost up the rains.

At present, Vidarbha is witnessing 4% more rains than normal, Marathwada is close to normal while Madhya Maharashtra has observed 12% more rains than normal.
