The central parts of the country are experiencing intense summer heat for the past many days. In fact, the states like Maharashtra, mainly Vidarbha division, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are the major sufferers of the soaring mercury levels that have given a rise to heatwave conditions to prevail in parts.
The mercury levels across most of Central India are mounting above the 45-degree mark making the weather conditions extremely hot and uncomfortable. Along with the above-mentioned states, Telangana in the southern half of the country is also reeling under heatwave like conditions.
On Sunday, Bundi in Rajasthan recorded the maximum temperature at 46.5ºC, making the city the hottest pocket in the country for the day. Apart from this, Chandrapur and Bramhapuri in Maharashtra and Phalodi in Rajasthan also saw the maximums settling above 46 degrees Celsius respectively at 46.4ºC and 46ºC.
Heatwave conditions were also observed in cities like Phalodi that recorded the maximum temperature at 46ºC, Wardha 45.8ºC, Kota 45.4ºC, Nagpur, Jaisalmer and Sawai Madhopur recorded the maximums at 45.2ºC each and Bikaner 45ºC.

On the other hand, heatwave like conditions or hot day conditions were seen in places like Barmer with the daytime high settling at 44.8ºC, Parbhani, Akola and Sri Ganganagar at 44.7ºC each, Adilabad 44.3ºC, and Khargone at 44.2ºC.
A hot day is declared when the maximum temperatures are more than 40 degrees Celsius and minimums also settle more than 30 degrees Celsius. Hot day conditions are very uneasy, and chances of sunstroke or heatstrokes are also common during this time.
As per Skymet Weather, the reason for the intense summer heat can be attributed to the hot westerly winds that are blowing over these regions from Sindh, Balochistan and Central Pakistan region wherein the temperatures are already touching skies and are seen settling near 48 degrees Celsius. In addition to this, clear and sunny sky conditions for the last many days are also aiding to this intense rise.
Further, we do not expect any relief from the ongoing hot day conditions over Central India for the next 4-5 days as the dry and hot winds from the west and northwest direction from Sindh and Balochistan and Central Pakistan would continue to blow over the region.
