Maharashtra continues to witness relentless Monsoon conditions

Monsoon has blessed Maharashtra with good rainfall this season and the saga continues.

The low pressure area over Vidarbha and adjoining North Telangana region persists and is extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. In view of this weather system, Monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Maharashtra and Marathwada while Vidarbha witnessed active Monsoon conditions on Saturday.

The system will continue to bring moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada. However, during the next 24 hours Konkan will witnesses decrease rainfall activities.

In a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Saturday, Ratnagiri received 88 mm of rainfall, Sangli 40 mm, Solapur 28 mm, Dahanu 9 mm and Aurangabad 4 mm of rainfall.

During last 24 hours, Mumbai received light rainfall. However, after 24 hours we expect Mumbai rains to increase once again.

The weather system will weaken gradually after 24 hours. Rains will decrease over most parts of Maharashtra except for Mumbai and coastal areas.

At present, Konkan and Goa is rainfall surplus by 23% while Madhya Maharashtra is 15% rainfall surplus. Marathwada is rainfall surplus by 22% and Vidarbha has received 4% more rains than normal as of now.

Looking at the cumulative rainfall figures, we could say that Maharashtra is one of the best performing regions of the country this Monsoon season.
