Maharashtra continues to witness good Monsoon showers

Monsoon in Maharashtra 2The cyclonic circulation over Saurashtra and adjoining areas is being held responsible for the ongoing spell of rainfall over Maharashtra.

The trough from North Konkan to South Andhra Pradesh Coast has formed in the upper levels. This system is sloping southwards gradually. Continuous rains are likely along the West Coast.

Entire Maharashtra will continue to receive Monsoon showers. Significant amounts of rains are likely over southern parts of Maharashtra. Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra will continue to receive good showers.

Dahanu in northern parts of Konkan region received heavy showers during last 24 hours. Dahanu broke the all-time highest rainfall record and received 529 mm of rain.

During last 24 hours, Mumbai also received heavy showers of 143 mm. Mahabaleshwar received 57 mm, Harnai recorded 54 mm, Alibag 52 mm and Bhira 49 mm of rainfall.

In the interiors of the state Amravati received 18.6 mm, Jalgaon 40.2 mm, Nanded 15 mm, Wardha 11.2 mm and Chandrapur 9.2 mm.

As of now, Konkan and Goa has received 16% more rains than normal. Madhya Maharashtra also witnessed 12% more rains than normal while Marathwada received 8% more showers. Vidarbha is also rainfall surplus to the tune of 4%.
