Monsoon started its journey along the west coast from May 30 and paved its way in the west coast at a good pace. The West Coast which mainly includes Coastal Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala receives some splashing rains during the southwest Monsoon, even up to three digits.

This year, Southwest Monsoon gave heavy showers in the initial days along the West Coast. Thereafter, reduction in the intensity of rain was witnessed over the regions.

While Monsoon has again picked up pace with full swing and hence heavy to very heavy rainfall is occurring over most of the regions along the West Coast.

These weather activities could be attributed to the offshore trough which was earlier persisting from South Maharashtra coast to the Kerala coast is now extending from South Gujarat to Kerala coast.

This has led to very heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa during the last 24 hours. Since this weather system is still persisting hence more rainfall are expected along the West Coast during the next few days. NLM has now progressed and has covered some more parts of Gujarat.
