April 27, 2017 1:29 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Severe heatwave conditions were prevailing over Madhya Pradesh with the mercury touching above 40 degrees. And after remaining dry and hot for a long time, rains have finally made an appearance over this state.

Scattered light rain and thundershower activities are expected over Central and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, thunderstorm and dust storm activities may occur over northern parts of Madhya Pradesh along with squally winds.  Stormy winds are expected to blow across the state in the next 24 hours.

As per Skymet Weather,  a cyclonic circulation can be seen over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining North Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, we expect temperatures to fall further till the first of week of May.

This prevailing system across Madhya Pradesh will bring the much needed relief. The temperatures were scaling near 40 degrees and are now settling in lower 30’s.

However, most parts of West and East Madhya Pradesh were reeling under the grip of intense heatwave conditions including Indore (40.8), Bhopal (42.3), and Gwalior (44.5) during the month of April.

Due to the ongoing weather system, the intense heatwave conditions will abate from this region and the temperatures will remain under the 40-degree mark for the coming 4 to 5 days.
