Madhya Pradesh to witness increasing Monsoon rains

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced to cover remaining parts of West Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. It has also covered most parts of Haryana and Punjab.

The low pressure area over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal is likely to move in a northwest direction. The trough extending from the cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining areas up to Northwest Bay of Bengal, is also lying very close to Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, the state has been receiving good rains.

During last 24 hours, Pachmarhi received 87 mm of rainfall, Jabalpur 53 mm, Rewa 37 mm, Seoni 26 mm and Guna 17 mm.

Moderate Monsoon rains will continue over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours. Gradually, the intensity of rainfall will gain strength.

The northern parts of Madhya Pradesh will receive moderate to heavy rains during next couple of days.

As of now, East Madhya Pradesh is rain deficit to the tune of 27%. However, West Madhya Pradesh has received 1% more rains than normal.

Bhopal has received 24% excess rains and Gwalior 31% excess rains. Indore is rain deficit to the tune of 18% while Ujjain has received 11% more rains than normal.
