Rain gods have been more than kind over Madhya Pradesh this Southwest Monsoon season. So much so that the state has been receiving good rains throughout the season. In fact, several areas in the state have recorded three digit rains on many occasions.
The state of Madhya Pradesh has also witnessed severe flooding conditions about a few weeks ago. Thus, this Monsoon season, Madhya Pradesh has seen it all. While the residents may have been feeling that Monsoon rains have taken a backseat but rain gods have more in store.
During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall has been observed over some parts of Madhya Pradesh. Satna recorded 13 mm of rain between 8:30 am on Friday to 5:30 am on Saturday, Guna also recorded 18 mm of rainfall during the same period. 8 mm of rain was also witnessed in Jabalpur.
Many areas in the state have also received heavy rains. These rains can be attributed to the well-marked low pressure area which remains stationary over Jharkhand and its adjoining areas.
Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, rainfall intensity is likely to increase over the state. The Narmada River is already flowing above the danger mark. More rains will only make the situation slightly grim. The possibility of flood-like situation in some areas cannot be ruled out.
