Dry weather conditions continued over most parts of Madhya Pradesh during the last 24 hours. However, isolated light rainfall activity occurred over the northern parts of the state. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Gwalior recorded 2 mm of rain.
The effect of cold winds blowing over North India is also being felt over many parts of Madhya Pradesh, particularly over the northern and western parts of the state.
Many places such as Gwalior, Sheopur, Indore and Sagar have witnessed significant drop in night temperatures. In fact, all these places have witnessed drop in minimums by 3˚C to 5˚C.
Now these icy cold winds are expected to continue for the next two to three days. Therefore, the eastern districts of the state such as Khajuraho, Damoh, Jabalpur and Umaria and Seoni will also observe drop in night temperatures. Sky will remain mainly clear as we do not expect any rain over the state for the next few days.
However, around December 16 and 17, we expect scattered rains to occur over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. These rains will be due to the effect of the depression present in the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into deep depression and may be into a cyclonic storm later on.
This system is likely to move in northwest direction. It will affect Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Vidarbha between December 15 and 16. Gradually it will move future northwestwards and effect Madhya Pradesh.
