The month of July ended on a good note for the state of Madhya Pradesh. In fact, the state had recorded surplus rains by the end of the month. Several areas in the state recorded rainfall in three digits during this period.
August also begun on a rainy note for the state. In fact, Monsoon rains refused to take a break and on and off rainfall activity has continued since the beginning of the month. During the past few days, the state has been receiving moderate to heavy Monsoon rains.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Guna recorded 68 mm of rain, followed by Khajuraho where 52 mm of rainfall was recorded. Other areas to have received heavy rains include Gwalior 25 mm, Sagar 25 mm, Satna 31 mm, and Indore 14 mm.
These rains can be attributed to the low-pressure area over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. Also, the axis of the Monsoon trough is running in close proximity of the state and is passing from Satna due to which heavy rains have been recorded over the state.
During the next 24 hours, good Monsoon showers are expected to continue over Madhya Pradesh as the weather system is likely to persist. At present, both East and West Madhya Pradesh are observing surplus rains.
While West Madhya Pradesh is 48 percent rainfall surplus, the eastern part is witnessing a rainfall surplus of 32 percent. In the coming days, these figures will only increase due to more rains.
