Madhya Pradesh receives good amounts of rain

As predicted by Skymet's Meteorology Division in India, good amounts of rain (over 40 mm) was recorded in many parts of Central India, including almost entire Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, and parts of southeast Rajasthan.

Weather in Madhya Pradesh and other parts of Central India turned rainy in the last 24 hours due to circulation of winds in Gujarat and adjoining Rajasthan. Moisture feed from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea also played an important role in giving rain .

This is what the rainfall figures look like in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: Bhopal – 40 mm, Khajuraho – 24.2 mm, Guna – 19 mm, Jabalpur – 6.1 mm. Pendra – 25 mm, Ambikapur – 0.4 mm, Bilaspur – 4 mm, Durg – 1.6 mm, Raipur  observed traces of rainfall. In Southeast Rajasthan, Kota was the only city to have received rain of up to 2 mm.

“According to our latest weather update, rainfall is expected to increase in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours. Whereas, light rain is a possibility in east Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar and north Jharkhand. The same weather system is expected to give light to very light rain in Delhi/NCR, parts of Punjab and southeast Rajasthan tomorrow”, says Samar Chaudhary, meteorologist at Skymet.

“It isn't unusual for Central India, particularly Madhya Pradesh to receive good amounts of rain in the month of February, however, it can’t be denied that the frequency of rainfall this year seemed to have increased due to climatic changes”, added Chaudhary.
